Bangkok

Exotic. Steamy. Mysterious. The rush of one of Asia’s most vibrant and welcoming cities. Cars, motorcycles, and the iconic tuk-tuks speeding along streets, seemingly guided only by chaos. Vendors hawking souvenirs, clothing, and street foods that triumph over many western restaurants. Friendly people. Historic sites. Endless nightlife.  Bangkok is a sprawling metropolis that loves to smile for photographers — from professional to those putting a camera to eye for the first time.

Join us on an 8 Day / 7 Night excursion that includes daily photowalks, access to locations off the tourist paths, photography instruction as needed, and a joy in finding the best images streets of “The Big Mango” has to offer.

Itineraries

Day 1

Date : Sun, 07 July 2019

Time : 19:00

Arrival

After arrival in Bangkok and transfer to your hotel, relax with some quality time by the pool, an incredible and therapeutic Thai massage, or head out for a first taste of photographic opportunities. That evening, we meet for the first time as a group. Over drinks and snacks, we will have the chance to get to know one another and talk about the upcoming week.

Day 2

Date : Mon, 08 July 2019

Time : 10:00

Hit The Streets

As body clocks might still be adjusting to the Bangkok Time Zone (Indochina Time), we head out mid-morning to get our first real feel for the city. There will be no lack of suitable material for shooting images as we explore the Sukhumvit neighborhood near the hotel. Afternoon at traveler's leisure. In the evening, we head out with one of our Bangkok partners for a late night food tour. Whisked about the city by charming tuk-tuks, we will enjoy seven food and drink tastings in as many neighborhoods, as well as a stop at the Bangkok Flower Market, a city temple and a rooftop view of the Chao Phraya River. Just before the strike of midnight, we make our way back to our hotel.

Day 3

Date : Tue, 09 July 2019

Time : 08:30

Photography Roulette

After breakfast, we head out this morning for an activity we call, "Photography Roulette." Utilizing one of Bangkok's two superior transit systems, we select a stop at random, hop off the metro train and shoot whatever neighborhood we find ourselves in. Keep a keen eye and quick shutter finger at the ready because 90 minutes later, we randomly select another stop and off we go to a new section of town. If the group chooses, we include a shoot at a third location. This is a day that never fails to pleasantly surprise and deliver striking imagery and fun in equal measure. The evening is free for photographers to pursue their own destinations or just catch up on some rest while processing favorite images. Your guide will be happy to assist you in getting to a location, restaurant or activity.

Day 4

Date : Wed, 10 July 2019

Time : 07:00

Beyond Bangkok

An early morning departure has us heading out of the city. We will ride in air conditioned transportation approximately 90 minutes to the historic River Kwai. See the actual bridge immortalized in David Lean's epic film, wander the museum, shoot to your heart's content from both sides of the river. Don't wander too far, though — soon we'll be boarding a train to chug down river on the route known in World War II as, "The Death Train." Bring along plenty of memory cards for stunning Thailand scenery. As journey's end, we'll raft down the river for 30 minutes or so on strung bamboo rafts what even allow for a casual swim in the Kwai. We make our way back to the hotel late in the afternoon. In the evening, there is an option excursion to some of Bangkok's nightlife: a "hidden" speakeasy crafted in the style of 1960s Cuba.

Day 5

Date : Thu, 11 July 2019

Time : 09:00

Local Insights

Today we'll put ourselves in the hands of a local Bangkok photographer for a chance to shoot areas and sights that most visitors never hear about. See the city the way city residents do. We'll lunch at a local restaurant. This is a chance to experience Bangkok life as a local. Relax on your own in the afternoon, and in the evening, we'll head out for an amazing Thai dinner at a historic downtown restaurant.

Day 6

Date : Fri, 12 July 2019

Time : 07:30

Across The River

Once again, we'll join with local experts to explore a different section of town. The "Thonburi Food & Canal Adventure" will have you riding the waterways of Bangkok by long tail boat, stopping at a local market, sample the award-winning "Choo Chee River Prawn" (a selection that won at the Iron Chef Thailand competition), and other surprises. In total, 10+ food and drink tastings and amazing sights to see and capture. Back to the hotel in late afternoon. The evening is free for travelers to explore on their own, or you can opt to join your guide for a dining experience.

Day 7

Date : Sat, 13 July 2019

Time : 09:00

Weekend Market

The Chatuchak Market is a Bangkok tradition. A sprawling, seeming endless collection of vendors in everything from kitchen utensils to clothing to fine art. We will be on a food hunt at the market, sampling 9+ food and drink samples between the countless moments of photographic inspiration. After some time for shopping at the market, we will be back to the hotel by mid-afternoon. The rest of the day is unscheduled, allowing travelers to revisit favorite spots or strike out in pursuit of personal interests.

Day 8

Date : Sun, 14 July 2019

Time : 08:30
